The following are the projects already implemented by UMWEMA.

Strengthen availability of land right and conflict resolution by peacefully means at Gairo division

The purpose of this project was strengthened availability of land rights to the women and land conflicts resolution with the project aim of enabling the women to access and own land by having certificate of customary of right of occupancy (CCRO).

Pamoja Tuwalee MVC Program

The Pamoja Tuwalee (MVC) Program was a five-year program with an overall goal of improving the wellbeing of Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and their caregivers living in households living in Kongwa and Mpwapwa districts using sustainable approaches focusing on community empowerment, while strengthening community systems to support MVC service delivery according to national guidelines.

Mwanzo Bora Nutrition Program (MBNP)

Mwanzo Bora Nutrition Program (MBNP) was a six-year program with aim of improving nutrition status of children, pregnant and lactating women that was focused on early childhood development by considering reduction of stunting within their first two years life. Target groups of this project are reached through peer support groups where parents and care takers of under two years children are joining in the groups to learn various positive nutrition practices through developed social and behaviour and communication kit.

Citizen Engaging in Government Oversight (CEGO) in Health

Goal: The goal of the project is improved health service provision to citizens.
Overall Objective: The overall objective of the CEGO project is to improve citizens’ engagement in holding Kongwa District Council accountable for quality health services provision
Purpose: This project seeks to improve health services provision to the citizens of Kongwa district by strengthening the capacity of local leaders and citizens to actively participate in planning and budgeting processes and hold public officials accountable for provision of quality health service, accountability and the project capacitated citizens of Kogwa district to engage in enhancing transparency and accountability through Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) and O & OD building to community of Kongwa district engaging in social accountability.

Kizazi Kipya (USAID New Generation)

Kizazi Kipya project funded by USAID through Pact Tanzania was concerning for caring and empowering young people that focused to enable orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) aged 0-18 and young people age 18-19 to access comprehensive HIV related and other services and to improve the capacity of OVC and their caregivers in order to strengthen care and access through integration of family economic strengthening and parenting skills.

Land Rights and Conflicts resolution between Pastoralists and Farmers

The purpose of the project was conflicts resolution between pastoralists and farmers in Kilosa, Gairo and Mvomero districts in Morogoro region to enable them to became aware of their rights and be able to apply, demand and practice their rights and resolve land disputes among them peacefully.

Public Expenditure Tracking (PET)

The purpose of the project was to provide capacity building to community at grassroots level in Morogoro district council engaging in Public expenditure Tracking System (PETS) and empower them to carry out Public expenditure Tracking surveys/studies (PETS) in education sector in 45 selected primary schools at Morogoro district council for the purpose of strengthens the Participatory, Accountability and transparency capacity of the Local Leaders and community for the active participation in the development of their societies, effective engagement in social economic and influencing particularly on the transparency and accountability of local to its citizenry.

Participatory Action Research on Poverty Alleviation

The purpose of this project was to enhance local people to understand the whole process of general elections 2005, to fight for any kind of corruptions during the general elections 2005 and participate in the election day effectively, to have democratically elected leaders by doing trainings workshop, public meeting, dialogue and distributing leaflets with messages of rights to vote and how to exercise it. The overall objective of the project was to strengthen democracy in order to improve good governance, social economic and poverty reduction.

The Anti-Corruption Initiatives at grassroots level in Public Services

• To raise awareness among the rural community in the 3 districts of korogwe, kilindi and Handeni on various measures, strategies and programmes meant to effectively combat corruption in public services.
• Media training workshop on the role of the media in combating corruption and promoting corruption free public service
• Production of radio programmes on corruption free public services and strategic networking.

Principles Ethics in Public Services (In Kiswahili language Kanuni za Maadili ya Utendaji katika utumishi wa umma)

The intended objective is to provide and impart them some education, practical training and knowledge which concerned the ethics and principles of code of conduct, general orders, rules and bye-laws in the national peoples administration, management control in the government sector that is central, local and regional levels. The let them know and understand democratic leadership and administration of, at least 120 people from four wards, viz Kisemu, Mtombozi, Mvuha and selembala. All these participants are ward local government, religious leaders, political parties leaders and other important distinguished dignitaries manner of men and women. The purpose is to have justice administration i.e. rule of law. Leaders should be obtained through democratic process, peoples participation approach, in all stages and steps of planning and implementation of the development plans and projects; and proper use and utilization of natural and personnel resources which are the gifts of nature owned and should be manned and governed by all masses and all people without exception.

JIPENDE Program “Sensitization on VCT and improve health status to sex workers and women engaging in transactional sex in reducing at the transmission and impact on HIV/AIDS among high risk areas in Kilosa District at Morogoro region”

This project was to change sex behaviour and other related attitudes of HIV infections among the sex workers (SW) and women engaged in transactional sex (WETS) that contributes to HIV infections and improving theirhealth status by giving them the best ways of protective measures not to be infected with HIV such as proper use of condoms, negotiations skills on sexual matters, contraceptive and sexual transmission diseases prevention and treatment by peer education.
